Just curious, what alerted you to the car overheating? Does the beeper sound or is it just the needle and message. The reason i ask is when i cracked my oil sump i dont recall hearing any chimes/beepers only the warning message and oil can appeared.

As I recall the "alert" was steam coming out from under the hood.
