Throttle Pedal Adjustment

Post by Cookeh »

Good morning,

Whilst changing out my rear wiper relay I stumbled across an adjustment wheel at the top of the throttle pedal linkage. I was just wondering if anyone knows what this does, and how to adjust it properly?

I am curious as to whether or not this might either change the height of the pedal (hence making heel and toe easier), or if it can remove some of the free play I have at the pedal end?

Will try and grab pics, weather permitting.

As you are talking about heel and toeing I am taking it you have a manual trans. Normally I would answer that but I have not owned and worked on a manual car. Sorry. DO you have cruise control on your car?

Yes, manual. Yes I do have cruise, and that does of course link into the whole pedal assembly, but the wheel in question doesn't seem to be directly attached to anything cruise related.

Hopefully one of those manual trans guys will jump in an clarify it's purpose. On the autos you have brake sensors and sensor for the cruise control. Not sure how that works on a manual. My only thought is if the cruise control is anyway connected to the accelerator pedal, it may affect how it functions. Otherwise go for it! That would prove it one way or another and seems a fairly simple adjustment. Naturally count the number of turns (maybe use white-out to mark a point on the wheel) and direction so you can move it back if it goes to heck.

Is that where the spring is? I would LOVE to soften my throttle pedal.
