Should I check out anything else while I have the head and exhaust manifold off. Seems like all the gaskets needed replaced. Is there a turbo gasket, hard to replace?

Here are four things I would think about

1 small coolant hose, hard to do with head in

2 loosen the OXS sensor, lube lightly, replace if you think you will do this in the next 5 years

3 CBV service. If you think you would like to service, remove and evaluate now. Three M6 screws, easy to do now, really hard with head in

4 other turbo hose under turbo, still tough

You will need some dental floss to put the exhaust back together, too

That small hose I can do. I'll check out the other underneath and probably do that too. That whole area underneath the turbo was covered in gunky oil. But why are these upstream oxs sensors so expensive. I feel like I should replace it too because I've replaced everything else. I have no clue if it or anything else besides the obvious spark plug change has ever been done to this car.

I also haven't found anything wet to indicate any sort or fluid leaks. Except on the underneath there my be a transmission case leak. It looked wet but no drips

Ty , cover up that turbo inlet forthwith before you drop something in there

Bosch makes the O2 sensors for Volvo. I wouldn't gamble with an aftermarket O2 sensor. I replaced mine at 120k miles for ~$100 from FCPEURO

With all the clearance I would grind off the sensor then use a 22mm socket to remove it from exhaust downpipe. Flood it with PB blaster for a day or two.

A little more progress.
Got the head all cleaned up,
New head gasket on.
New bolts used to bolt down the head.
Rear coolant line and gasket on
Exhaust manifold with new gaskets both sides
New thermostat, gaskets and housing.
Lookin good

What are you workin on over there?
I still need to get some anaerobic sealer and clean out the top of the head and change the belts. I'm getting very close though. I've replaced and cleaned up a lot. I moved on past the idler pulley for now though because I'm still unsure which bolts go to it. I should've put them with it.

I’m at the tail end of reviving a 1998 NA from an overheat. We had the cylinder head reworked and I’m putting back together.

I’m a pretty strong advocate of,,,

Remove item
Put into clear baggie
Remove fasteners
Measure shank, head size and length
Write on baggie in sharpie

I’ve figured out that the time spent doing that is easily saved not
