Can anyone tell me where the Service A/C ECC Cabin Temp Sensor is located. Also, would I need a 2-pin or 4-pin connector?
Thanks

You see that grille next to your switches on the right-hand side of the steering wheel (to the left of the ECC unit?) It's behind there. To get to it, remove the radio, pop out the ECC module, pop out the switch next to that grille. Then put your hand through the opening for the ECC module, press the catches with your fingers and pull out to remove. There's a harness connector attached. Reverse those instructions to install. The sensor is part number 3524841 and runs about $100.

Like VCA insinuated, it is Volvo specific, but before you go replacing it, these sensors are prone to get crud in them (lint and the like). Try taking some compressed air and blowing it out if it's giving you problems. Btw, what is going on that you think you might need to replace it? Btw, it is fairly rare that these go bad. If you really need a replacement, try a junk yard first. I'd personally hate to pay $100 for one.

The lights are blinking on the Off/Recirc buttons. My freon was low, so I recharged the AC thinking that may th problem, but the lights stayed on. I called Volvo and they said that the cooling system sets a code when the lights flash and they had to scan it to find out what the problem was. I explained to the service guy that everything (ie blower, temp., etc.) was working correctly, but the lights were flashing. The service guy said that from his experience that usually meant the cabin temp sensor was going bad. So, I thought I would try and locate it clean it like you suggested. If the lights continue to blink after I blow it out, I guess I'll take it to the dealership and let them scan it for a code.
Also, is it true only Volvo can diagnose the AC problems from the blinking lights or is there another way? From researching this problem, I understand that there scan doesn't always indicate the right problem.
Thanks for the advise.

I've gotten the blinkies several times since I got my '98.
A short blast from a can of compresed air got it everytime!
The sensor has a very small fan that draws air in from
the cabin for a more accurate reading. With all that air
flowing past the sensor, it just collects bits of gunk.
You're probably just fine.
