Several weeks ago a Federal report was released detailing the US states exceeding 100 new cases per 100,000 population in a week. This calculation is based on a 7 day moving average of new daily cases. Since this number changes daily and I have seen little follow up on which states made the list, I created a new table for the information.volvolugnut wrote: ↑13 Aug 2020, 08:21 More statistics on US states and COVID-19 growth rates. My raw information is from Worldometer. Any errors or misrepresentations are my own.
The concept behind the Red Zone list is that if a state exceeds 100 new cases per 100,000 people in a week, the state should take additional steps to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
The tables below show the Red Zone threshold limit in the far right column for each state. I found that many of the states in the list far exceeded the threshold. The table highlights each day in Yellow if the number is 1.0 to 1.5 times the limit. The table highlights each day in Orange if the number is 1.5 to 2.0 times the limit. The table highlights each day in Pink if the number is 2.0 to 3.0 times the limit. The table highlights each day in Purple if the number is greater than 3.0 times the limit.
Please Note: All highlighted cells are in the 'Red Zone'. Only uncolored cells are below the critical limit.
US Virgin Islands and Guam should be ignored. They have missing information.
Some states have improved over time and others have grown worse.
