I miss the blue!

Post by mecheng »

Who what have thought something like the color or coolant would make the engine bay look better? I certainly didn’t until I was disappointed to learn that Volvo coolant is now what the parts guy called Emerald green. It now looks similar to generic Prestone.

I liked the look of the vibrant blue they used to use. I believe it was the same coolant as what BMW uses which is still blue.

Since when did they change and why?

A year or so they changed to bring it more environmentally acceptable and there are also more protecting minerals added to the mix.

Interesting, I don’t know why they couldn’t keep the blue color unless maybe they wanted to distinguish if the car has new or old fluid?

It looks too similar to many other fluids. I say poor choice in color. Is there a write up about it?

The blue has been gone for years at my dealer. Its It's kind of a dark greenish color. My car has been on it about 100K now without issue. You probably can find old stock on Ebay if you want Genuine Volvo Blue coolant. June

The colour change is occurring because of a National effort to remove orange.

Blue is a primary color, it just exists and shall never disappear! Green is secondary and made

Scotty is a tool, I can’t believe how he generalizes everything. Toyota is no 1 and all other cars suck. Yet he had a Volvo in for service and was impressed how well it lasted and how well it’s built. Most videos are click bait
