There is no drain plug that I can find on side pan or is plug in slum housing
Of trans. No I didnot change or flush fluid yet with no forward or reverse or screwy system hardly should waste any more money on it at 10.00 a quart. I have rebuilt many transmission in my life time auto and manual and racing. Iam not a parts changer and need info before I make decision . I have limited knowledge on computerized
Models but understand them.

Look for the transmission air vent. Most have a white venting cap on the end. Make sure it is not clogged.

Missed the drain plug aspect.

The drain plug should be directly under the transmission so yea its the 24mm hex. (850 is part of the p80 platform)

What fluid did you use to replace the stuff that boiled out? If there isn't enough fluid then the tranny just freewheels and does not engage (what happened in my case at higher RPMS when i did not put enough fluid in).

You probably already checked this but is the fluid burnt? And and dexron 3 compatible fluid will work. I can buy about 5 L of the cheap stuff for 24$ cad so i don't know what stuff you are looking at. Napa up here has it listed for 3.58 cad a quart.

Also what scanner did you use.

Your homework:
1) what fluid did you use to replace the stuff that came out
2) what kind of scanner did you use to scan the car
3) post the $10 quart fluid cause I'm curious :P
4) what colour is the fluid

Ancel ad510 scanner
As for my nose it has to be really burnt for me to smell it anymore so it wasn’t that burnt. What ever normal people can smell I can’t just maybe corpse after two weeks.
Normally in a old world rear wheel drive trans two things are at place when you have no reverse or forward. Pump and sprags. This trans not so something else is fishy. Oil is crazy it went from .10 a quart to 8.00 a quart there’s nothing under 5.00 a quart. Not even motor oil. Trans fluid and any DTE fluid 8.00 to 15.00 a quart. And plus tax at 11% and delivery.
But I used dex3 and refilled to dip stick level.
Since I cleared codes the trans stays in gear but that’s not driving the car that’s just moving forward and backwards in AFEW parking places. Each time I lost trans fluid from removing by the dip stick it needed two quarts. And 5 pounds of rags to clean up the mess. The fire department wanted to have police ticket me for hazard waste clean up and tow me away. So Iam not driving it on the street until I know what’s going on. Wife drove the car and pushed it while it was in the limp mode or flashing arrow. I had to push it home with another car last mile. It had no drive or reverse. And that was the first time my volcano erupted. When I pulled the dip stick out. Since then twice more just sitting in from of the house. First time was a gallon.
I will pull the plug though because I wanta know if metal comes out if it does junk yard if it doesn’t then I’ll drain and fill. Because I have a feeling this is all electrically related between the PNP switch and internal solenoids. For sure the PNP switch is junk.

But this thing with the flashing arrow and limp mode or starting off in 2 nd or third gear is a engineering screwup as far as I am concerned.
R is for race. D is for drag and L is for launch
1-2-3 is just to remind people how to count. Drive in the snow forget about it.

finally got around to draining trans fluid. no metal on drain plug or did any come out, the oil was alittle murky but didnot really smell burnt. This trans was replaced before so i am leining to someone plug up the trans vent. For now i cant see it and will try and find that to make sure venting is working. while filling trans back up 4-5 quarts never seen a trans that wont take oil down the dip stick and spit back up so much even not running, trans buids pressure and if you pull dip stick it spits back out even underfilled after it was running or running. After clearing codes trans has been staying in gears all the time without loosing clutch engagements. AS before trans would run for afew mins then quit in all gears. shut it off wauit 20 seconds restart and i would then have clutch engagement in forward and reverse. tomorrow ill go around the block and test it out and see how it behaves. i rolled it forward and backwatrds through three parking spaces and it seems to respond ok, enough to try going around the block tomorrow
