1995 850 turbo 5 cyl. sedan excess of 230,000 broken odometer 5 years ago so add 40,000 more OBD 1 and OBD2
Read a lot of the info here in other places and trans behaves a lot the same bad PNP bad solenoids dirty fluid, flashing arrow, limp mode, rowing selector clears it up temp. but returns and now no drive or reverse after 10 mins. but after recycling engine restart cycle transmission returns to drive and reverse again returns right away. cycle repeats. I cleared code P0755 sol. B and P0730 and trans stays in gear now but not going to get caught on street dead but having no reverse or forward seems to be gone. code P0755 returned right away though. But what i wanted to know is what causes the trans fluid to blow out of the dip stick tube like a volcano when the dipstick is removed ???? The radiator cap was always removed during engine operation as i am aware of coolant system pressurizing the trans oil system if the tubes inside the radiator are leaking. Second transmission in the car. TRans was not over filled. Is the trans slipping that bad creating that much heat to boil the trans fluid out ????? My 1990 740 wagon is still kicking and dependable. I dont think anybody knows how to drive rear wheel drive anymore in the snow.
I have a feeling the trans has seen its days.
Not sure the car is worthy if trans has to go again. Any thoughts ??? thanks
PSS i did some checking and was told that rebuilding clutch and plate kits are not around anymore any truth to that ???
Transmission thoughts please

I've never heard of trans fluid boiling out, but i did come across a car where a trans line had bursted allowing the coolant to mix with the transmission fluid (was an 850). Im pretty sure tranny fluid has a much higher boiling point then normal fluid, and have never had a case with the v/s70's of fluid being pushed out.
I once had some weird transmission behaviour (flashing arrow constantly, sometimes would get some 7 series codes) which was due to a bad transmission control computer.
Does the car feel like it drives normally if you cycle through the 3 and L option on your shifter?

No the trans is not normal any more. After I cleared codesthe trans now stays in reverse and forward.
But before I cleared the codes transmission was limited to 10 mins. Of any forward or reverse gear. Then no more transmission engagement in forward or reverse. Once engine was shut down and wait one min. Restart engine and reverse and forward returned for another ten min. And then the cycle repeats itself
After I cleared the codes transmission stays in gear. But shut down engine and for the 5 time to check trans fluid and pull out dip stick and volcano of trans fluid. Keep in mind coolant system is not pressured as cap is removed all the time to further eliminate pressure from that end.

Something is going on electrically here. Solenoid A or B. Or both. And I see no drain plug on trans pan or any kind. I have hear that this is not a volvo trans. But a Asian built trans for volvo.
Before all this happened yes I was having issues with PNP switch and flashing arrow warning
You that trans is in limp mode. The last time car was driven on the street I had to push it home last 1 mile. Push it home with my 740. To the rescue.

That’s when the trans started not going into reverse or forward after 10 mins of operation. One key factor is if
Your in reverse and shift to forward or in forward and into reverse you then lose all clutch operations and have no nothing. But like I stated wait one min or less restart and again you have clutch operation of rev or forward.

Does reverse have full power? I had L & 3 feel like normal when my trans computer went out. Have you done a drain and fill and checked the plug? If it is full of metal bits then the tranny might be out.
