Post by daRecki79 »

HIya all..

Is it possible to determine if the ECU came from Auto or Manual car by hardware / serial numbers on the ecu ??
Or is it more to it??
Looking for 2.3 T9 (2003-2005 C70) ECU but it has to be MANUAL :) Yep.. I know.. they are rare as hens teeth..

Could anybody shed some light.. please :D :)

Cheers

In that era the ECU part number is the same for manual or auto. The software package loaded is different based on gearbox, engine, sales market emissions standard. There is a software number on the ECM but that number is subject to change over production run and it is not the number you would find in software parts listing now. ECM is not plug n play on 99 and later. The ECM is mated to the combined instrument (Can and Driver info Module--CDM)) as that is the ID managing module on P80 platform. The Immobilizer module reads key and communicates with ECM but the ECM is mated to CDM to further complicate stealing car. There are some firms offering module cloning so a used module can be used. I am unsure who does it in UK/Europe but in North America Xemodex can clone or repair ECMs.
