Only Drained 90oz Of Coolant Topic is solved

I opened the overflow cap, jacked up the front left side of my 01XC and drained out 90oz/2.7L coolant. What went wrong? In the process, I pressed the upper hose a few times.

Was the high/low reading on the expansion tank within range?

its in the block, theres a drain on the back of the block if you need to get it all out.

Nope. The reading was high, because I filled the tank after replacing the thermostat and coolant temperature sensor. I was trying to bleed out some possible air, but the tank level was still high as I poured it in initially, so, I drained the coolant to refill the coolant the 'right' way.

i always used the bottom hose but then i noticed the plug on the radiator and use that, ive never used the drain on the left side (back) of the engine. i get around 5litres out but theres always abit left in the block..i think you have a blockage

You should get at least 4 liters of coolant if you just open the radiator petcock or pull off the lower radiator hose. Something is wrong if it’s a lot less than that, you are short About one liter.

Lots of people swear by citric acid flushes. Citric acid is a common/readily available food chemical.

Were cooling system flushes (citric acid flushes to be specific) more commonly done, A larger purchase split among members (the old "group buy") could make sense. And yes, I'm that cheap.

Do a clear water rinse and see what you get.

Where on the left side (back) of the engine is the block drain? Is it designed to be usable or is it a seized, rusted mess?

Rear drain , technically right side of the engine, is on the water pipe

It’s a high quality brass fitting on the steel pipe. I have not had trouble releasing it cleanly
