Thank you everyone for your help!
Here's really the deal. I had drained some coolant to replace the Thermostat and the Coolant Temperature Sensor. After which, I refilled the tank, but the coolant level did not go down, so I suspected there are air pockets, then, I raised the car to drain more coolant so as to refill it the "right" way. I really was not doing a flush, just needed to refill the coolant the recommended method. So, having the coolant remaining in the block, would it really matter refilling the coolant?

It sounds to me that you never had the coolant properly filled and had an air pocket. When you drained it to start over, you got a partial fill amount.
I am not sure of the proper fill method, but I usually fill slowly and squeeze the upper radiator hose many times to work the air out of the system.

I'm fairly certain mine is on the block itself.
There will usually be coolant left in the heating system too. Not worth bothering with, a flush will get it out or replace it with fresh.
I just replace what comes out the drain plug on the rad , give it a hose burp and drive it a short distance and top it off again .

the drain is between the engine and firewall, as i said i havent touched mine as i dont want to risk it. Have you checked your thermostat make sure it isnt stuck closed.

Since I was not draining the coolant completely, I just needed to replace the thermostat and the temperature sensor, I decided to refill the coolant tank.
While filling the coolant tank, I was pressing the upper hose. I drove the car around the block, by the time I got home, it had a warning to refill the tank. I did, drove it again, and refilled it again. Now, the tank level seem to be at the same level, not asking to refill the tank.
1. Now, pressing on the upper hose, it does not seem to contain any liquid. When pressed, air escape sound will be heard in the coolant tank. Pressing the upper hose does not feel liquidy.
2. Had the heater temperature set to the highest and the fan to the highest while driving.
3. The temperature pin is still way down on the left.
4. New Thermostat (90 degrees) and new Coolant Temperature Sensor.
Thanks.

I had this problem with too little coolant draining, only about 3-4qts, same when refilling. The block drain will drain maybe 10 more ounces but still no enough (careful not to break it, it can be stuck and it's quite thin). Also my cabin heater would not be really hot in winter, and in summer time I would have engine pinging going uphill
I think for some reason there may be a rather common issue with these engine blocks. There may be a coolant passage restricted somewhere inside the block. I managed to clean this then I was able to refill with a bit over 6 qts which is about normal (1qt is stuck inside the heater core).
There is also an interesting change when refilling the coolant. Before, when it was taking only 3-4qts, I would drive the car few minutes, the tank would get low level, top up the tank, then next morning the tank would be empty again, so topped it up again and good to go. After managing to 'unclog' the blocked passage, I would again drive a few minutes, get low tank level, top it up, only now the next morning the reservoir will still be full, no need to top it up again as before.

What do you refer to as "engine pining"?oragex wrote: ↑22 Sep 2020, 08:11 . . . . engine pinging . . . .

In my case, yesterday, I only had to refill the tank twice. Just checked the tank, it is on the correct coolant level. When driving, the heater was blowing good hot air.
With the tank cap opened, and I press on the upper hose, it's just air bubbles coming out inside the coolant tank. The upper hose should feel like it has some sort of fluid in it, not this one. Coolant is not getting into the upper hose.

Detonation. The hose between the thermostat and the radiator keeps some air at the top. You can tap with your fingernail along the hose to hear where is the 'line' between fluid and air

Squeezing the upper hose feels it's just empty, no coolant. My other 01XC, the upper hose feels there is coolant inside. It bubbles with coolant in the tank when pressed.
