Fuel Injector Electrical Plug Replacement With Pictures

Replacement fuel injector connectors

These are what I used to replace my broken electrical connectors. They fit perfectly, and are a lot cheaper than getting them from Volvo. The last price I saw was $25 for 1 connector, and this is a set of 8 for less than $20.

No need to cut the factory wiring to splice these in. Just take these and the old original ones apart, pull out the new wires and put in the original wires. Then reassemble the new connector to finish the job.

Only tool that's needed is a pick. I used a 90 degree pick to keep from accidentally stabbing my fingers.

You'll notice a little notch under the red piece. This is where you need to insert your pick and push the piece straight up.

If you look inside of the connector you should be able to see the two little plastic prongs that hold the metal connector in.

Carefully pry down on the plastic prong just enough to pull out the wire.

Now do the same thing with the old broken connectors. On the old connectors it's best to remove both wires, and to insert them both at the same time into the new connector. You don't need to hold the little black plastic prong out of the way when installing the wires. Just push them in until you hear them click, push the wires all the way in to make sure they're seated properly, and then reinstall the red hold down that was removed. Pull on the wires to double check that they're seated right, and then move onto the next connector.

Hopefully this helps anyone that has broken connectors, and doesn't know how to disassemble or reassemble new connectors to replace the broken ones. (I would do all 5 of them, since it's an easy job to do. Even if you have a couple that aren't broken yet they will eventually break, unfortunately.

You're welcome. I meant to do the write up when I changed them on the car, but I couldn't really hold my phone to show everything as detailed as I could this way.

The nice bonus is there's 3 extra connectors in the kit. I would strongly recommend that you practice with at least one of the new ones, both taking it apart and putting it back together again, several times until you feel confident enough to swap them out. The red hold down can be tricky to remove, and it took me several attempts to finally figure it out. On the old ones if the plastic prongs holding the wires in break it's no problem. The old red piece may break into several pieces, too, which a couple of mine did. As long as the new connectors don't get broken anywhere everything should go smoothly.

I don't know if it makes a difference or not, but make sure when you swap the connectors to put the wires into the correct hole. There's only so much slack in the wiring, which is why I recommend installing both old wires into the new connector at the same time.
