Professional Parts Sweden quality? Topic is solved

I just received my "volvo part" i mistakenly thought i was buying genuine volvo. (late night ebay shopping). i think it was the blue writing and the fact i had bought genuine parts from this ebay store (monster parts) before. now i have to pay for return shipping (Australia to UK) or just use the part??...its only a serpentine belt tensioner not a critical part, what could go wrong.

I’d use the tensioner and throw away the actual pulley and use an INA/Volvo one instead. I know it only touches the serpentine belt but if that pulley bites the dust prematurely and takes out your serp belt it can (and has been documented to do so) get sucked into the crank pulley.

Edit: I too have been duped by sellers on eBay listing things as “Genuine Volvo part” when the actual “brand” of the part truly is “Genuine” parts .... not “Genuine Volvo”!

Many, many years ago there was a company in Texas that made aftermarket add-on A/C units of dubious quality; the name of the company was "OEM".

Yep, Ebay is really shady when it comes to car parts. Not even mentioning fake brands, like fake SKF bearings and so.
The Proparts Sweden - which was before named Scamtech will perhaps damage even a garbage bin. You can rather remove the pulley off your tensioner, and try gently pry out the small bearing seal and clean and regrease the bearing, or if you don't mind keeping an eye on it, replace only the pulley with the proparts one. The tensioner part on the original one is usually long lasting, only the pulley gets dry - but I managed to regrease mine and it's still running nicely.

If I recall correctly I installed some control arms on my S60 years ago with this brand. They lasted 5k miles. Lost over $300 in installation labor. Shop showed me the bushings and they were garbage. I called the dealer and purchased OEM arms and had them installed. These arms were at 50k plus miles until my nephew wrecked the car. Not saying OEM is the only way to go, but some of the "no-name" imposter brands are a disaster waiting to happen.

If that tensioner fails - your engine is toast. Site sponsors have plenty of non OEM options with proven track records.

I've made mistake buying over eBay too.
Be prepared. My suggestion is to use the aftermarket part for limited time and get back on the road. Order the INA tensioner and restore it at a convenient time; it is a relatively easy task.
