Hello, another broke university student with a dream here,

I have a EU 1995 GLT NA (B5254fs), and have been looking to turbocharging it, because t5 models are getting realy expensive and rare.

After doing A lot of research, I was wondering what is the difference between the eu na glt and us lpt glt /awd engine? The bore/stroke is the same, and from what Johann(project mjolmir the NA 200hp) has written the block oil passages and under piston sprayers are the same.

So the question is if the head is interchangeable with the lpt engine or are they the same?

And yes I know about the guy who did a NA+T, but i think the engine is capabe of 200+hp

If anyone has any information available or anything that might help, I would greatly appreciate it.

ps. I have an option to buy the awd engine w turbo and wiring with the computer for -+ 500€, while t5 cars are getting to 2,5k€+ if you can find them.

The compression ratio changes on the turbo and the valves are sodium filled.

Oil cooler has to be fitted.

Ok, thanks

But does that mean I could switch the heads and the engine management system and be ok with it??

I forgot to mention i would also get an intercooler and the piping and the oil cooler

Likely going to need a new harness. Can't imagine they'd run the wiring for all the extra stuff if they didn't have to...

Then again, this isn't a 99 so I'm unsure.

I don't know how hard it is to get a german car registered in Slovenia, but I'd rather try to find a decent T5, preferably 94 or 95, in Germany. In Autria, sometimes you can find cheap T5s as well, but they are rarer.

I'd definitely rarher spend 2.500 on a running Turbo car than 500 in parts plus extra parts you might have to replace, hours of labour, and guesswork.

My concern doing a wiring harness change would be bad connectuons or broken wires. All the connectors and the insulation gets brittle with time.

Also, the 99 definitely has a different ABS System than your 95.

Wiring is the smallest problem. You need to add just 2 extra wires to turbo control valve.
Pistons for turbo and NA engines are different. And it's desirable to use spattered big end bearings for turbo engine, they are expensive.
