Oh it's NASTY. The previous owner put Dex Cool in it for some reason... no idea why. I guess he thought orange looked cool. It ain't called Dex Kill for nothing!

Dexcool is fine if you change it every 2 years but I think that may have been skipped there

It's fine for cars that call for it, but these cars don't. G11 or G05 will do. I used Dexcool in my Saabs with no problems.

I doubt it'll hurt anything, but Dexcool doesn't mix too well with any other chemistry.

I'll get back with results in a few days.

So after like 100 miles with no change in drive pattern I can see mpg is up a few "points"😀
Car feels like it is a bit snappier and it also took away a strange bogging issue I had when giving gas from stand still.
If you're not sure when your O2 sensor was replaced last I would suggest replacing it. Note here that I didn't have any codes or nothing. Just did it for preventative measures and now I also know when its time to change it again. 👍

Edit: I found a great article about O2 sensors that I posted on the forum a way back. It's really well written and explains in an easy way the function of the sensor. Here is the link:

I need to order a couple for my car soon. They are certainly worth replacing, people don't realize they're a wear item just like spark plugs. It's easy to clog them up with exhaust soot, especially if your engine is burning oil or running rich.

Had a slow moment yesterday and locked myself out of my V70R... I pulled the door handles to re-glue those little rubber pieces that always slip down when I pull the door handles. I was going to test the lock cylinder before putting it back together completely, but my brother and dad were around and distracting me working on his car. Naturally, I forgot to test the lock cylinder on the driver door handle after reinstalling, and ended up locking the car last night. Went ahead and tested it just after that, and sure enough, I hadn't lined up the rod properly.
Ended up having to drill out the plastic plug on the tailgate where a lock cylinder belongs (for whatever reason, Volvo didn't install lock cylinders on the 2000 models, or at least some of them after a conversation about this topic on here). So if anyone is looking to steal a P80, this method works pretty well! Now I need to find another plug.

If only I had a key fob for this car... this could have been avoided!

I keep a spare in a hidden magnetic little box on my car since I've been in a similar situation before.

I'm glad I at least have a spare key for this car. I wish it could have helped me in this particular situation!
