Flashing arrow but no CEL

Hey all,
I bought a 98 V70 xc a few weeks ago and I wanted to give it a good tune up because the previous owner had no records and didn't seem like he knew much about the car. I changed the spark plugs and wires, cap and rotor, oil change, Seafoam in the fuel, new starter (was having starting issues when I bought it), new battery and the PCV system. After I was finished putting in all back together the car ran really rough and I found I didn't get the intake manifold gasket seated properly and after I fixed that it runs great but ever since then it has the orange flashing arrow on the dash and no CEL. Also the driving mode indicator lights flash back and forth between E and W or S and W. The arrow and flashing lights weren't on before I did all this work and I didn't do anything with the transmission. What would cause this? It seems to drive and shift the same. I tried reading the codes but there were none stored for the engine or transmission. It has a few oil leaks that I know I have to address soon but they don't seem to be transmission fluid and the trans dip stick looked good but who knows unless I drain it and really look. Any ideas is much appreciated. Thanks!

Well your right in that both of those indicators are transmission related. I thought the flashing orange arrow indicated limp mode but obviously not.
I don't think you'd see a CEL since it's not an engine issue. Maybe pull and reinsert the TCU.? I don't have a '98 so you have some things that I don't.
Hopefully someone else with better ideas will chime in.

What code reader did you use? There are transmission codes a generic code reader will not detect. Recommend is 850 OBD-II.

I have a '98 C70. When I first got it, it would do as yours is doing.
Cleaning the electrical connector on the transmission then clearing the code took care of it.

A drain and refill fixed my flashing arrow issue.

Thanks all, I'll give those suggestions a try and see if that solves it. And the scanner I have is a Foxwell NT301 OBD2 Scanner.
