V70 running rough

Post by Umbertedel »

2003 Volvo v70 started running rough and threw trouble codes indicating the throttle position sensor. Throttle position sensor is attached to the throttle body. Replaced the throttle body 2 weeks ago and the car has been running great, my daughter just called and said the car shit off and when she restarted it the car was chugging and shaking just like before I replaced the throttle body, no trouble codes this time. Do I need to replace the throttle position sensor at the accelerator pedal? Any help is greatly appreciated.

This could just be the hose connected to the throttle body coming loose or cracked -- check your Intake hoses.

I believe you can do a throttle body adaptation with vida, did you perform that?

Turbo engine ? The wires going into the connector to the throttle body sometimes get corroded or cracked right at the connector. May try taking a close look

Probably a vacuum hose. So touchy these cars are. Is there a very noticeable hissing sound from the engine when it is running? a good way to check for vacuum leaks is spraying carb cleaner around the hoses to see if there is a noticeable difference in how it runs. Same thing happened to me after cleaning my throttle body. Started running rough. Finally found vacuum hose that came loose.

If you are not getting codes, a check engine light or the orange/red triangle, it's likely not the throttle position sensor at the pedal. You can always remove it and check for smooth shaft movement.

Since you haven't thrown another code, I'd agree that it's likely a disconnected or split vacuum hose or intake hose to the ETM.
