My daughters XC60 recently gave her the message that the coolant was low to pull over. After some basic diagnosing I determined that neither of the dual cooling fans was engaging. Using Garage Pro, my OBD2 and advanced scans it pulled an active P0480. Basic scans and parts stores tools gave me back no errors and check engine is not on.
I ordered an aftermarket new replacement, replaced the fan and now fans are engaging again as expected. When the temperature reaches ~210 the fans engage. When the engine is warm and the AC is engaged the fans come on (and AC is cold). The average running temperature(over the last 3 days) is 194. It would seem that all is well, except I am still getting the P0480 code. I removed the battery cable for over 10 minutes, which clears the "history" of the code, but I always get an active P0480.
The fans are working, Temp sensor seems to be sending (I can see temps through my OBD2), the AC is working properly; so what could be triggering the 480 code? I do not have a dice unit (but am looking for one) to properly diagnose and clear
Please Advise.
