It comes packaged with heated third-row seats!

It sort of just crumbled off when I went to bend it back!

Is there a muffler hanger around there if I recall. It causes rust to form in that area and then the tail pipe falls off. Sleeve it with a wider pipe, muffler putty and a new hanger (the new hangers I found were too wide for standard NA's so I had to sleeve it anyway to use it!). Then good to go!

Didn't so much work on the car today, but have been working on re-checking my inventory of parts list v's the boxes returned from storage. Wow! amazed to find that the list was still pretty accurate. Only issue is there are way more parts than there are on the list!!?!?

Now have to go through all the 'additional' finds and add to the list. Final job over the next few days is to organise the parts in a better way to make finding stuff more logical. Also have to get to a 'KEEP' pile and a 'SELL' pile.

Lots of projects and looking forward to temperatures next week in single minus 'C' during the day.

Neil.

Won my old 2000 S70 back at auction this morning... went to pick it up this afternoon! Of course I had to strap it down in the mud in the rain, but whatever... they loaded it at least.
Got it home, put two jump boxes on it and it started right up! Still runs beautifully at 254k miles. I'm so glad to have this car back, this is one of the cleanest P80s around. Well, aside from the obvious... It'll likely be fixed and sold to one of my cousins who needs a car, but we'll see what happens... I really like this one.

Same story with this car as with my '98 GLT... guy I sold it to wrecked it, then it went to Copart.

What’s going on with the front wheel on the P80! Is that a work in progress?
The S60 was thumped in a couple other panels, and my dance card is way too full to tackle another rebuild, so donor it shall be.
The XC will be the recipient of the heart transplant. My current plan includes using the seat skins to refresh the interior of the 850 T5, and - see 'full dance card', above - swap the manual into that same car once I get the Good Car back on its' hands and feet.

Might have a hood for you. Needs paint but straight

Looks like Antlia wheels and code 426 or the other one?

Can you share the buyback plus fees? I still can’t see the economics on these auctions but I’m known to pinch a penny or three

It's 426 mystic silver. Antlias with good Yokohama tires, two I put on there (found a matching pair of tires at the JY). Hopefully the flat one can be plugged, it still has plenty of tread.
My winning bid was $450, it was $708 out the door. I was loaded up and leaving in about 15 minutes after getting there. They're always so nice at Copart, I can't praise their customer service enough. BUT my justification on this... the engine has 99k miles, new EVERYTHING (timing belt, PCV, oil pan seals, resealed cam cover, coolant hoses, and the list goes on and on and on...) that I did about a year ago. Interior is spotless aside from a tear on the driver seat, and still smells like a clean P80 (you all know that smell! And no, I don't mean coolant... ) and the body is pretty nice aside from the obvious collision damage. Plus the control arms, struts, tie rods, and brakes are a year old.
You can get some good deals at these auctions, but it's harder on older cars like these. In this case, just like my '98, it made sense, since I know I can make my money back and I know the history of the car.

My word, the auction fees are extortionate! Please tell me they're a flat rate, and not percentage based on the auction value?

My new throttle body gasket and 7.5mm vacuum lines arrived today, so I could get on with some maintenace. Replaced a perishing vac line, and then obviously cleaned my throttle body. I was really very surprised to see just how bulky the butterfly plate is in the turbos, that nylon (?) wedge stuck on the top of the front creates a sizeable frontal area. Its much easier to picture how a 960 throttle plate or NA throttle body may increase throttle response now! I also cleaned out the TPS, so we'll see if that made any difference at all, though one imagines it might given how dirty the throttle body can get.

Well done , Bmdub!

$700 all in for the known entity is good indeed.

My 426 Mystic Silver AWD is buried under snow and also behind my T5 project at the moment

Not a percentage, but a fixed fee for each price bracket... https://www.copart.com/content/us/en/pr ... ember-fees

It can get pricey, but you have to consider the market value of what you're buying. If I were to buy, say, a newer Hyundai Sonata with minor front end damage for $2000 after fees, I'm still ahead of the game. Fix it, sell for maybe $7k. With cheaper, older cars like these, it can certainly become very cost prohibitive.
