2005 V70R Clutch Life Expectency

Post by wackenhut »

Hi,

Does anyone know the average life expectancy of the original clutch on a 2005 manual transmission V70R? What is the cost of repair?

Thank you.

Job estimate

About 15 hours labor
1500 in parts for DMF, pressure plate, release bearing, and clutch disc

Lifetime will be dictated by experience, not MTBF on parts

My 2005 NA only lasted 120k
My 1999 T5 is on the original at 260k

It fails prematurely at the slave cylinder, not at the actual clutch plate, but it's an engine out job and everything must be replaced as it gets contaminated with brake fluid (uses fluid from the brake system). Make sure it was already replaced and test the clutch as quite often if it's not correctly installed it may not work well https://www.volvoforums.org.uk/archive/ ... 31170.html
