Interior vinyl paint colors light beige and beige

Post by NC855R »

Hi,

I've searched for this answer but can't seem to find an answer. I have a 97 850 R with the light beige/beige interior and I'm need to paint some of the plastic/vinyl bits and or recolor replacement bits. The two colors in the interior are what Volvo call Light Beige and Beige. So my question is have any of you found a match for these colors using Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabric paint or SEM Color Match paint? Any guidance/experience would be appreciated.

Regards.

I have a beige interior on my '97 855 and I have this question too... I think you're looking for spray paint that matches 3950- Beige and/or 3960- Light Beige.
Let me know if you have luck finding a source. There is a Duplicolor HVP108 that looks similar on a computer screen, but you won't know til you compare it side by side in sunlight. https://www.duplicolor.com/product/viny ... c-coating/

Just get it matched at Home Depot, about $6, you don't need spray. Get the best paint they have, Behr Marquee in the sample size. I used a cleaned rear seat base and the match was perfect.

To match sand for plastic covering in an S60, I cleaned up one of the door sill trim pieces to use as the match. Excellent results. Or probably the back of a panel, it's going to be original.

Here are before/after pics of the interior of my 2000 XC. You can use it on interior plastic panels or seats/etc.

I posted the whole process here:

I got the original idea for this a year ago from a post on Volvoxc.com. I modified it w/things I learned from furniture repair blogs/websites, etc. It works very well and is cheap, just takes some labor.

Oro, thanks for the link to your thread. Seats turned out really nice. Have you tried the same paint technique with the plastic parts and vinyl parts around the door cards and dash areas? I assume you brushed on your color and that might not end so well for the plastic and vinyl. I did order a SEM color chip card so I could look that the colors more closely instead of guessing.

Yep, I did a panel in the S60, and I have others still to do. I just brushed it on with a sponge brush and it looks perfect. I haven't done all the other panels. I'll try to take a picture of it for you tomorrow, but it works great.

This is a very high-end acrylic latex, so it dries hard, and it dries flexible. Just what you want. A different league than cheap latex wall paint.

I have some panels on an XC70 door card I need to do. For that I got a spray because they are such large, flat, smooth surfaces. Will do that next week or so. For smaller areas, or textured thinks like the center console panels, brushing is a-ok. The quality paint makes a difference - it levels as it dries and there are zero brush marks. The Behr Marquee might be ok on the door cards, but since I don't care if it's a shade or two off (they already are), I will go with spray.

I got the color sample sheet for the SEM Color Coat interior and fabric paint. Took some spare bits of interior and matched them to my interior color. This is a 97 855 R with the interior code of 3865 (from the VIN plate) this is the 2 tone beige interior with the light birch wood dash face. This car has the darker beige upper dash pad and some of the lower hard plastic parts are this color, this color matches the SEM color of 15033 Saddle Tan. I matched the backside of the piece to reduce a mismatch due fading. The lighter beige plastics bits (lower dash, center console, etc.) match to the SEM color 15143 Sandstone. I've attached some pics to show the matches for anyone else that is looking for these colors.

Hopefully these pictures show up, they are on google photos. If not does anyone know how to link in photos from Google Photo?

Thanks, just updated based on your instructions but still seems to not be coming through, at least I can't see them.

You did it correct and I have used it here before.

Something must of broken in one of the recent MVS changes. The BBCode image tag is working with imgur.com. But not Google Photos. Look like it is because a image file mane and type in the link.

The links are good. Clicking on one will bring your photo up.
