Just catching up here -

1. Sveedy & bmdubya : What do you use for smoke? I tried to get some oily rags to smolder. What psi do you use? I used a gallon paint can. Mistake I made was choosing clear tubing that got soft when it was hot - it kinked, pressure built up for a second, and blew the lid off the can!

2. Groupil : Nice driving to hit the mileage exactly!

3. Yanga : You don't want a Highlander. Your kids will grow up sad.

4. Chuck W : That task might qualify you to be a rocket scientist.

5. 850LPT : I love the Viking! We have a stuffed Bison from Yellowstone, who wears a bandana, and he goes on adventure trips with us.

I ignited some charcoal and sat it on top of a crumpled piece of foil then through cardboard pieces on top. I ran a roadside inflator through the paint can. Worked great.

I have an old sock (rag will also work of course) that I soak in mineral oil, then a pen style soldering iron (the $3 harbor freight one) glued to the lid. Looks hilarious, but it does the job! Air pressure comes from a bicycle pump, but super low regulated pressure is ideal. That way you get constant pressure into the system. Most people recommend a propane regulator set to like 1-2 PSI.
I’ll have to post a picture if I think about it tomorrow.

I used piece of old towel ( apx 3" x 3" ) that I discovered smouldered quite well. Could have added oil to make it smoke better but it seemed to burn well without it. About 5 psi or so. Kind of hard to to use my compressor at that low of a setting but it worked. Opened oil filler cap and pulled dipstick so as to not have pressure build up. Might work better with cap on, but loose, so more smoke can get into the intake but not sure about that. First time I have ever had to do it.
Try to learn life's bad lessons vicariously through others.

Yeah, I borrowed a compressor and it's hard to get the psi that low, or steady. Roadside inflator is an idea!

Regarding my Highlander snark - here's the reason...I saved this funny long ago and drag it out occasionally.

Changed my oil, swapped my tires (snow vs rest of year), cleaned my cabin filter and tried to debug my random stalling issue.

When I went to log my oil change, I discovered that the last time I did a change, it was 8/2019. Couldn't believe that. 5000miles but 1.5 years.
