S60 T5 gas leak

Post by Drudavid22 »

I just purchased a S60 T5. When you turn it off gas is pouring out under the driver side rear door area. Fuel filter and fuel pump just replaced. Any ideas?

Let's get the obvious out of the way.

Did you buy it from a dealer and are willing to return it? Claim it as a lemon.

Did you check with a mechanic before you bought the car?

Otherwise, your car is pissing it's gas like you owe it money.

I don't even think this is a DIY job someone else is gonna have to explain it, and the tank alone is little over $1100.

See if you can jack it up and find out what the hell happened. Otherwise you're gonna have to figure out what to do with the car fast.

This should be your tank. Confirm it with a volvo dealer.

Looks like ebay is super cheap. $75

Not sure if the tank is suppose to be plastic or metal based. You're gonna need to give the VIN to a dealer to confirm. Then you'll need to get an indie mechanic to do the job unless you got a fancy lift.

Sometimes the o-rings don’t Seat on the fuel filter right , or they “ roll”

Carefully try to locate where the fuel is coming from: tank, filter, or hard line?

One of the fittings at the pump access plate has come off.
Its not the filter or feed line because a leak like that would kill fuel pressure, the fuel return line has popped loose.
Tell the guy who did the fuel pump.
