Yes with the Monroe 4C, valves to restrict the fluid flow therefore changing the damping.

Some other makes do it by applying a voltage across a special fluid. The voltage changes the viscosity of the fluid therefore changing the damping.

Hi Evan,

Not sure if Abscate passed the info on. IPD have a sale on both Munro (OEM) and Volvo (OE) $C shocks for the V70R P2.

The Munros are about $720/pr front and same for the rear. Volvo OE are about $760/pr front but way more for the rears for some reason.

Yes it is painful, but just be happy that the prices are coming down. When we had to do the 06 XC70 4C (0nly 2 setting compared to the 3 on V70R) I was quoted $1100 each from local Volvo dealer!! Bought out the US from Tasca I think for closer to $600 CDN each + shipping. Strangely, IPD shows sale price is higher for the XC70 version??

Hopefully the 2nd set will see out the car!

You are welcome. I did also notice FCP had a front end kit for $1000. Didn't look at the content details other than it had shock boots and spring seats. May work out around the same price as IPD front Munros with their warranty.

I figured it out. 4C is just a naming convention since each strut will set you back 4 C notes.

Ordered from FCP since I want the warranty coverage.
