I got my '99 s70's battery replaced and have the same problem. We called the volvo dealership and they gave us the code. Then the "OFF" came on, so we called them back and they said to turn your lights off and turn your key to the 1st "tick" mark on the steering column and leave in that position for about an hour...Well, to no avail, I've tried that twice to no avail. Or, they told me my other option was that the car needed to run 48 "actual" hours and then the radio would reset. I'm stuck too!!!

Any ideas???

I had this same problem, all the radio said was "OFF". I didn't feel like waiting two hours (according to the owners manual) with the car on so I wondered that since this problem can happen when the battery is disconnected if that would solve it as well. It did, I just disconnected the positive side of the battery then connected it again and started the car. Instead of sayingm "OFF" the radio said, "Code". So I entered the radio code and all is well.

Of course you have to have the radio code for this to work.
