rims designed for TPMS

Post by darylrobert »

ive figured out why my rims needs so many weights around the standard rubber valve, the rims are designed for the heavier Tyre Pressure Sensors (not mandatory in Australia).

I assume P2 cars in the US have this fitted? ive read the Volvo ones warn you if the pressure gets down to 10PSI which is way too low.

That a lot of weight.
The average valve stem sensor weighs between 30 and 40 grams, or 1 to 1.5 ounces, a considerable amount from the balance perspective, especially since most tire and wheels are fairly close to "balanced" in the first place.

TPMS required in US since 2007... "the TREAD Act requires that all vehicles produced after September 1, 2007 be equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system."
