Replacing Hood on 2004 XC90

Post by Crunkmissile »

Hey guys,

Pardon my ignorance with this one, but I need to replace the hood on my 2004 XC90, and I got an '06 hood from the Pick & Pull in my city, but when I've tried to put it on its about an inch too long. Because of this the hood release cable isn't able to properly connect, and I have no simple way to pop the hood anymore (so haven't had the use of any windshield washer fluid for about 2 weeks).

So, I was wondering if there can be any compatibility issues when replacing the XC90 hoods. Is there any particular hoods I should be trying to avoid, or any that simply won't fit like the one I ended up with from Pick & Pull?

All 2003 - 2014 XC90 hoods are the same. You are missing something like damage other then the hood. Did you adjust the hood position at the hinges?

I didn't know you could adjust the hinge position at the hinges. Is there any amount of play with how you can position the hood on the hinges?

The hood may be the same, but the grill may be different. As a result maybe the latch mechanism is different, but then the portion on the core support would be changed.

What did your old hood look like grill and latch wise? Do you still have it?

Was the hood replaced because somebody bent it by running into something?
If so the bar that the hood latches are mounted on may be bent or the hood latches may of moved.
Pictures would help.
