While the wiring is a mess on this project , I don't think this part has been hacked ,this car probably should have been parted , but it's a clean lo miles pre 2000 wagon , and I love em ! I just did timing belt , water pump ,pulleys etc, PCV next , I think she was worth rescuing . I think the missing dash would have scared some, but I found a 94 non Turbo parts car and salvaged the wiring harness and Dash assembly and More , It's been a good learning experience, sort of a 850 Baptism by fire ,makes me appreciate my Turbotweaked 745.

HaHa ,love the word play...hate to think Volvo owneRs aRe stuffed shiRts ,like Benz,or BeemeR owners ?,I sort of understand what you say about the P2's I have A 2002 V70 T5,love the car , hate the gremlins.

Cancel previous mayday...another problem solved and lesson learned ! these 2 sensors go on the bottom side of the passenger and driver ducting . I saw the location for the headliner trick tiny fans , those are kinda nutz ,teeny, tiny little fan motors ! I see why you thought the wiring was hacked , but alas these are not the ones you spoke of. Thanks again Matt's minionz [imghttp://www.volvotips.com/service-manual/volvo- ... ge_016.png][/img]

Just wanted to post a piece of follow up information to help others and in particular jlaakkonen if that person is still active and having the same trouble reading codes from the ECC unit with their homemade code reader (in this case jlaakkonen used a 10kOhm resistor).
I ran into the same problem jlaakkonen described where the ECC unit simply repeats an endless blink and won't allow the codes to be reset. To solve it, I built a second code reader using a 500 Ohm resistor instead of a 5kOhm resistor, and the ECC responded to the new reader without error. I was able to read the codes twice, and then clear them using the standard procedure.
I'm not sure why having a high value for the current limiting resistor in the reader makes a difference, but if you're having trouble with your reader and you're using a high resistance like 5k or 10kOhms, I recommend trying a lower value such as 500 Ohms I used today or the 680 Ohms used by esl_97_850_T5, the 1kOhms used by Chuck W.

I know this is an old thread but I am fianlly getting back to looking at my ECC issue and wondering if thie make shift code reader will work on a 1999 V70 before I try and source the parts. I am sure I will have to by like 100 of each bit since there are no small electronic stores to be found anywhere near me.
Here is the thread I made last year about my issue in case anyone wants to take a look. viewtopic.php?t=101328

I don't know if it will work, but let us know if you try it. I agree with you about the difficulty sourcing parts locally. I have had good luck purchasing parts from DigiKey... they will sell small quantities of resistors, LEDs, switches, etc and they have a $5 USPS first class mail shipping option that makes it reasonable.

I didnt even think of them. I have used them before for flex loom and heat shrink types of things in the past. Great shop for sure. Now to find the time. LOL

Hey Jreed, I see you are in NC. Where abouts is RTP? Is that Research Triangle near Raleigh?
