Hi
I recently had new tyres and when installing they said I need a new ‘Right Hand Rack End’ on the front right. The wheel is moving a little when rocked.
However they don’t do it and told me to go to another mechanic. Now I went to another mechanic and they said I need tie rods.
I didn’t ask at the time or book in yet but are they the same thing?
And would this cause a hard shudder / vibration mainly when turning right (it’s ok turning left it’s only when turning right).
Is it ok to just replace one or do you recommend both sides at same time?

G.day!
There are two tie rods on each side, four total
The inner tie rods screw into the steering rack, the outer bolt to the steering knuckle
The inner ones could be described as “ rack ends” in the land of tyres, petrol, sunshine, and shaaaaks

As above, it appears the mechanics were referring perhaps to the outer tie rod on the side with movement. You will also need to do an alignment once replaced, maybe the reason the first garage didn't do the job. As for the judder, I don't think it's caused by this unless perhaps it's really really worn. Try first replacing see how it goes. Try using Lemforder for this part Fcpeuro.com Do not use cheap parts, they last very little
