I noticed a slight rattle and occasional pull coming from left front brake over the last week or so.

I think I found the problem....

Brakes were done by PO, so not sure how old they are. But there is still plenty of material left, so I peened the end of the rivet and reset it. I'll order a new set, of a different brand.

Got the rest of the parts car torn down today, it'll follow Clarke to the scrap yard soon! It'll be a little sad to send it off for good this time, but this car served me well while I had it, and taught me a lot. Coming up on 6 years since I bought that car... and I've owned many, many Volvos since then!
I can now say I've turned just about every single bolt on this car though... I think the only things I haven't touched on that car now are the doors and tailgate, brake booster, ABS pump, AC evaporator, and headliner.

Replaced control arms with FCP euro warranty units. Had less than 20k miles on them but when i went for my last alignment the tech said there was play in the arms' subframe bushings. i think last time I didn't get the knuckle close enough to ride height when i torqued them. I ended up putting the opposite wheel on to be able to jack the knuckle high enough to get the wheel bearings inline with the door seam.

I also replaced the valve cover gasket and ignition wires on the ranger last night.

I hate it when bots browse our sites. Its intrusive. Look at the memebers browsing this site. Bing Bot and Google Bot. I hate those corps. Buttonholes!
On the bright, actually not so bright, side I got into an accident. Some lady turned out of a gas station and I hit her, but 100% not my fault. She lied to avoid admitting her fault. My car sustained a minor fender dent, obliterated turn signal, and massive bumper fade and scrapes. Lol her 2015+ Ford F150 adopted a new nice sized dent on her driver side passenger door, along with massive scrapes.

What’s a Volvo without a missing turn signal?

That really blows though. You can’t catch a break with that car!

I hope you used the Ford steel-core "Ranger" gasket for that valve cover.

Never had a leak from those on the 2.3T in my TBird.

Ah unfortunately not, maybe i should've looked harder. I just got a napa ste which i believe is made by FelPro but it did have metal inset on it. I realized while i was doing the job though that i think the bigger leak was actually from the EGR crankcase to throttle body tube so i put some oetikers on that to hopefully cut down on seepage there

Does it have a full metal core around the entire perimeter (except for over the front cam bearing tower), or just little inserts around the bolt holes?

The Ford ones are pretty cheap (under $30) and are reusable, pretty much indefinitely, unless you really manage to screw them up. Mine's been off and on several times and guys even pull used ones out of the junkyard and use them.
