Wheels - P2 V70 vs P2 V70R

Post by packetfire »

I like the "Pegasus" 5-spoke wheels found on many v70Rs, but I drive a 2004 v70, non-type-R, which currently has 15-inch wheels to which Costco, in their infinite wisdom, has fitted 195/65 R15 91H tires.

I see 16-inch, and 17-inch wheels on Volvo wagons, but I cannot find anything authoritative to sort out what actually fits what, so I hesitate to start scouring scrapyards.

Is there any such reference?

Thanks!
1982 240DL: Drove it 32 years and 1.5 million miles (sold, even still had mint leather!)
2001 v70 2.4T: The most expensive $1500 car I ever bought ("Volvo Turbo" - what an oxymoron!) (sold)
2004 v70: Far less fatally-flawed v70 - It served well (sold)
2010 v50: Smaller, slightly sportier wagon. Its got a spoiler, so I upgraded with sway bars!

This might be a good starting point:

Some rims will cross over from P80 cars. For example, I have 7.5 X 17 Canistos on my V70 with no issues. These were original only to early C70.

Dirk, he's talking about P2 -> P2. Yes, Pegs will fit.

195 is very skinny. Should help with MPG though.

I had 17 inch rims on a non Vinci car that I used to own. Used to get dude bubbles when I got potholes. I got fed up and bought 15 inch steelies with toes and tpms on them from another model. No bubbles from potholes after that, 15 inch tires are also cheaper to buy and install. Best purchase I ever made for that car.

If you live in a state that has a lot of potholes, there is nothing wrong with 15 inch rims/tires if they work for your car.

Looks like he's in NYC. I would get perhaps 16x7 and put slightly bigger tires.

Didn't see he's in NYC. In that case I would go with 14" wheels :D
