leather seat skin conversion

Post by nmontague81 »

Just changed out the cloth seat skins in my 850 with leather seat skins. Now the heated seat doesn't work. The heated seat relays marked "leather" have a different plug than my cloth heated seat relay which I can't hook up. How to troubleshoot?

I'd be going down the route if depinning the plug and swapping connector housings. But that's assuming the cables match. Can we have more info? No. of wires, their colours, connector housing info?

Thought about changing out the wiring harness. Did the same project on a '93 850 but replaced torn-up leather seats with nice condition cloth seats and the relays were similar, one was just marked "leather". The first photos of the green relay are for the leather seat, the third is the plugs for the original heated seat, and the last photo is the original relay in the car.

The last image looks like the retrofit recall relay to deal with fire issues. As such, that's the one I'd go with and be trying to fit. The same recall relay kit was used for both cloth and leather, so should be your best bet.
