850 aftermarket stereo no sound

Post by Fil3807 »

Please help,

I have recently purchased a Volvo 850 Saloon

I replaced the stereo system with a Pioneer aftermarket single din and all the speakers in the doors. All worked perfectly with the sub etc. I then decided to replace the deck speakers under the rear window and since then I have had no sound from any speaker apart from the sub in the boot.

I have checked every fuse and are all ok! The stereo and the harness work fine in my 940..... But nothing in the 850? What could be causing the issue?

My 850 doesn't appear to have any sort of standard amp by the heater matrix.... But as stated the aftermarket stereo worked fine in the 850 before trying the deck speakers.

Please help me. Any advice appreciated. Based in the UK

Thanks Phill

Sounds kind of like your Pioneer is in amp protection mode.

Are you sure that you didn’t short any speaker leads
to ground when your installed your rear deck speakers?

Some stereos will shut down all of the internal amp
channels if any one of the four speakers has a problem.

I hooked up the original stereo and it also produces no sound. As stated the Pioneer works in the 940.

Disconnect your new rear speakers and try again. Your trouble seems to have started with the rear speakers.
