97 850 turbo AWD wagon blower fan replacement

Post by mfkia »

Hi everyone, new member as of today
I have a Canadian model 97 850 turbo AWD wagon with 240K km ( 145K +- mi )
I love this car and expect to have it for some time if I take care of it.
I consider myself pretty handy but this has me stumped.
The details on the Vadis cd are vague about changing out the blower fan. Removing the glove box door is a little more than just a couple of screws.
I read about a change out for a 94 850 in this form but it sounds different than the 97 ( different dash arrangement ?? )
Thanks for any help

The dash should be just the same as a '94. What you need to do is remove the lower dash panel, and remove the glove box. The only trick on the glove box is releasing the arms that support the glove box door. There is a small hole next to each arm. The arms can be released by inserting a small screwdriver into each of the holes.

From there it is a matter of removing the electrical connector and taking out the screws.

Thank You Ozark Lee
Job is done-- it took about 1hr.
Hint to others--- remove the electrical clips before removing the fan housing
it is a tight fit but it will come out and go back without removing anything else
GREAT SITE --- Thanks again
