Replaced vacuum pump and MAF on wife’s car today. Still chasing an engine hesitation issue.

Also burped and bled air from PS pump today after pressure hose and t. Stat replacement on my car last week.

Generic info:

The inner CV boot on our P1 had finally split in half. Was leaking and splitting for a couple of years. Used the following to keep it going till we can replace it. Still holding up after 6 months axle not clicking.

Zip tie for clamp. For the broken boot we used double sided stick-to-itself harness tape and it is still holding up. Cleaned grease and wrapped around split boot counter rotation of forward moving wheel and it's held up for 6 months now. Used a needle on a grease gun and filled the boot with some high temp grease. Some grease is better than none. Almost a permanent fix with that tape and zip tie.

Finally finished removing the horrible, 17-year old clear bra from my 2004 S60 2.5T. Took a couple of hours, an entire eraser wheel, a bunch of Goo Gone, and a lot of patience - and I still need to come back for the mirrors and clean things up a little more.

But what a difference it makes!

I basically followed this simple video, if anyone else needs to do the same:

I accumulate parts filling out orders to meet the free shipping and/or discount thresholds while buying things I really need at the moment. One wheel bearing or ball joint and such here and there. My car just passed VA state inspection a couple weeks ago, everything is working good, but I had two front wheel bearings, ball joints, front and back stabilizer links. So that’s what I did with no expectations except to enjoy my wrenching time. I was totally surprised when I drove my car yesterday and I felt a big difference in how smooth my car ran down the road. The power transfer from the engine to the wheels was noticeable with the new wheel bearings. Color me happy in VA on Independence Day. Hope you all have a great day.

Nope, 3M wheel did no damage to the clear coat. I didn't want any damage.

P2 has a very thick layer of clear coat, which is hardened right. I think you may need either a sand blaster (would eat it down to metal), or some chemical aid to soften it up.

I was going to transplant the Sonnax valve body from my dying transmission to a rebuilt donor, however didn't likethe gaskets after 3 or 4 years of use. Split the VB apart and sprayed the passages with kerosene. It was clean, no clutch material residue, but anyways.

Well, ~$800 for Sonnax valve body 4 years ago was a big mistake. Look at the LPC bore wear! My ATF was never that dirty to cause any such damage! I'd better pay more for a new overpriced Volvo valve body or google better and find a new AC Delco VB for cheap.

At least it was clean. Partial drain&fill with Volvo ATF every 20-30k miles, some Lubegard HFM, external oil cooler and Magnefine - all of that does help greatly.

I took apart another VB, about 100k miles, probably w/o ATF flush in its lifetime. It was so dirty that I had problems removing the plungers from the bores. Two internal magnetic filters were very dirty, worse than in my Sonnax VB - and I'm rebuilding the donor transmission, because my is apparently failing mechanically, it grinds itself badly lately.

Two bores in Sonnax were rebored for oversized plungers. They look terrible (no mirror), but it seems they are ok.

LPC is not rebored, it has a lot of wear. Decided not to address it this time.

The VB was working acceptable most of time. The transmission was jerking slightly in traffic when hot (ambient temps 90+), but the same thing happens and always happened to TF80SC and A760E that I own from new, so not concerned too much.
