There are pipes between the transmission and the cooler but I don't think they are hoses.

I have drained the old oil,change filter and it still takes tolong to shift. is there any thing else i can check before a mechanic starts diging.

If its an AW 70 theres a good article on rebuilding the valves which control shift times, they're just little rubber balls I guess.
Its quite do-able for the home mechanic.
