Hot exhaust fumies

Is it normal to have very hot exhaust fumes? After 15 km of driving, my exhaust fumes are so hot that my hand burns at the end of the exhaust. Is it normal? Maybe a clogged catalyst? Large amounts of exhaust gas do not fly. Long-term correction is fine, around 0.

Yeah, it's a car. Literally fire and explosions inside the engine. It doesn't normally take a lot of driving to get all that stuff up to temperature. Unless you're having problems running or codes showing up, I would say you're fine. Putting a hand behind your exhaust and feeling the temperature is not exactly a very accurate or scientific way to determine if there's some issue.

To get all nerdy/technical, because the engine is only about 25 percent efficient as best, 75 percent or more of the fuel energy goes out the exhaust or radiator. A turbo uses some of this energy, but not much.

Hot exhaust gases would be a sign the cat is working as it should.

Should see these new Diesels, when doing an exhaust filter regeneration, exhaust temperature is about 1100f.

One more question. When I reach the lights and I have the clutch pressed, the engine speed is higher than idle. When stopped, they set themselves idle. The car can even roll gently and the engine RPM is higher anyway. I changed and cleaned the idle valve.

The use of my hand to check the temperature may not be reliable, but in the V70 II 2000 after driving about 30 km, including a dozen or so kilometers on the highway, I can hold my hand behind the exhaust and it does not burn a lot. In addition, it seems to me that more exhaust fumes are coming out. In my car, after a few kilometers, I will not keep my hand behind the exhaust for too long because it burns a lot

Try getting an infrared/laser thermometer and actually measure it. Odds are it's <= 350 F at the tail which should be fine.

I used a thermocouple multimeter to measure it. The temperature is 180 ° C (356 ° F). V70 II will be measured today.

You can't compare two practically different cars.
V70 p2 have different engine management,catalytic converters,sensors....and much more.

Plus....when engine runs on LPG....it runs a bit hotter than engine on petrol.

That said....temperature in combustion chamber is higher when engine runs on LPG.
