Hey y’all,
I desperately need help and I’m totally out of ideas.
here’s what happened (condensed)
car on ramps, changed oil, had an emergency, crazy rain for an hour while I was gone. Came back next morning. 2001 v70 T5 won’t start!
Here’s what I did.
Removed coils (holes filled with water), sucked all that out and dried off completely
Changed plugs. Will not start..
Confirmed that I have voltage at battery in rear and positive post inside engine bay.
Confirmed fuel pressure at valve on rail.
Pulled every coil and checked for spark (fwiw the light didn’t seem super bright, but I also confirmed a spark on the engine block: again, it seemed somewhat weak but idk).
Checked cranking voltage, seems fine above 10.
Replaced crankshaft position sensor (in desperation)
Poured some HEET in the tank (desperately)
Tried the lawnmower test with cranking and gas pedal.
One side note: I had been chasing an oil leak down the passenger side of the motor, coming from the top: I think this may have just been a worn out oil cap gasket though.
Please help fellas/ladies, I’m at my wits end here and can’t really afford the dealership/towing route. Very rural here.
what am I missing? Had to be something to do with the rain? On an incline too long?
Thanks all!!!!!
V70 won’t start. Out of ideas.

These Volvos need fully charged battery to start (13.5 Volts).

did you leave the hood open and it poured rain on the engine?
if so then something else is wet causing the no start.
You might just have to wait until it dries out a bit.
The inside of the plug boots will be wet, try wd40 in the boot to displace the moisture.
Its possible spark is shorting to the block if the coils are damp.

Try having someone turn it over at night with you looking at the engine, hood up. You'll be able to see arcing if there is any.

Pull all those coils, pull off the rubber boots, and dry them with paper towel. You can’t have any moisture in there or you won’t get spark to the plugs

Hey guys, all the coils and everything are dry as a bone. I’ve cleaned and dried everything. Still no start, endless cranking. I forgot to mention that I compressed aired everything at first.
Any other ideas? There aren’t even any codes. I did confirm spark with an inline tester. There’s a spark, but it does seem weak.
