Trans getting stuck in limp mode, p1618

Post by stirner »

I have a 1999 s70 that had the errors p1618, p0753, and p0713 when i got it read at autozone. It seems to get stuck in limp mode when going at lower speeds, particularly in parking lots. I replaced the pnp switch and am only getting p1618 now on my generic obd2 reader, but im still getting the flashing arrow intermittently. What can I do to troubleshoot this? The pnp seems to be aligned right, i have reverse lights and i can start the car in park and neutral...

I believe that is a TCM communication error, so check the wiring for faults

May be useful to hit that car with VIDA to get the additional info as to how many times it has happened and the actual details as the car sees it.

Thanks, I have a KKL cable on the way. I tried to clean every connector on the transmission i saw but couldn't get the TCM out without that special tool, so I ordered that too. There was alot more dust in that electronics box than I expected. I hope contact cleaner on the TCM socket does it.

Ive only had the car a week and have had this happen probably five times, but i think i found a patern. Its ALWAYS when i pull into a space to park. And once when i accelerated hard to turn into a parking lot. Why would that be? Something related to sharp turning? The brake pads are gone and i have new ones on the way, but i cant imagine thats relevent.

You could be getting an abs signal that will put you into limp. Take a look at the abs sensors on the wheels

The best way to troubleshoot is to monitor the wheel speed with a scan tool
