850 AC Compressor

Post by manovlov »

Hy Buddies,

Is it necessary to move out the fan radiator to extract the AC compressor from the car ?

I will replace the alternator by the way (to begin with that), won't i have enough space to pull out the AC device ?

Removing fan is pretty easy, and you will have much more space for work.

Azik09, i found a FCP video that explains how to move the fan, but i won't have time this week to do so. Do you think it's possible to extract the compressor without doing so ?

Because i haven't got enough time, i won't replace the compressor. I thought to replace the alternator by a new i bought for my 1998 V70 Diesel, but the parts are differents. Same sizes but fixing screws holes differents.

I will reinstall the one i have, clean it before of course, and i will see later. For the compressor AC i will take the end of the year to put clerly the scheme on a piece of paper and list parts and seals i need. For spring 2022.

I am infinitely grateful to you all for your kindness and your wise advice.

1998 diesel is an Audi/VW engine... All mounting points of all agregates are different from your B5254. The only way is to assembly internal parts of D5244's alternator with the B5254's alternator housing. Isn't it easier to buy properly spares (brushes, contact rings, bearings etc) and fix your alternator?
I couild give you all needed partnumbers tomorrow. And some instructions with photos too, if needed. Right now I have 850 for engine swap in my workshop.
If my English is bad, please correct me
