Moaning wheel noise? Topic is solved

If it's from a grabbing caliper or parking brake, the wheel will be very hot after a long drive. Or even glowing hot, which makes diagnosis so much easier.

All rotors have some runout. If the brake caliper or parking cable is binding slightly, as the speed increases it will creating a slight gap so the noise will go away. When the brake is depressed the cycle starts again with low speed noise till the runout increases the gap between the rotor and pads.

Check the parking brake cable for binding and lubricate then move on to caliper piston and lastly guide pins for the caliper.

I suspect that if I took the wheel off inspected some things and put it back together, it would disappear.

Inspect, clean, adjust, repair as needed and you might hit the spot making the noise. Sometimes it's not obvious.

Wouldn't want it to disappear, then you won't ever know what it was!
