Hy Buddies,
I would like to know if to buy a press like this one is a clever invest in a workshop. I see well the application for bushes, but a press does it worst it ?
and if not, what kind of tool do you think absolutly neccesary to have for ours cars ?

I think it will collect dust Manovlov. You'd end up using a engine crane / lift more often, and how often would you need that tool ?
Pressing out bushings is about all I can think of. I use mine to press out u-joints on my rear wheel drive cars, and even that I don't need to do very often. If you want a standing shop tool that you'd find more use for, besides just working on cars, then I'd suggest a drill press. That said, if your anything like me, there's never a tool that I don't want to get. I have tools I've never used ......yet

I traded something for a press similar to this one maybe a decade ago. It was already old and well used then. I am not sure If I have ever used it. But I plan to use it sometime.

I agree with this view. I have often thought about buying one but even with a large garage the press takes up a fair amount of room. I could probably have used one in over 50 years on my cars maybe a dozen times. For the few times I needed one I found either a buddy who had one or a friendly repair shop where beer/wine was involved for payment.
I also have loads of tools I have not used or use very rarely. I have a bench top parts cleaner that has been used once in 25 years. A sand blast cabinet that is still in the box. I have found air-tools since moving I didn't now I even had!
My next 2 tools are a 2 post 9000lb hoist and a higher lift floor jack. The floor jacks I have won't lift my Toyota 4Runner wheels off the ground and I have finally found one that will. I will then sell my other 2 as I won't need them as well.
I promised myself a hoist for 50 years and now with back issues and neck issues I am tired of crawling about on my back on cold floors! Now have the garage I can put one in so hope to do that once the floor is epoxied!
Neil.

Don't buy it. In 23 years of wrenching on cars I never needed one.

Room and Disposable Cash. You also said shop, if neither is a concern it's always nice to have it around especially if you are one to make creative use of it.
The same with a wall mount spring compressor besides a welder for making your own exhaust. My friend had one besides the expertise to use it so we didn't buy one when we fabricated our own dual exhaust for the muffler delete on the C30.

I have a Push-Pull sleeve kit that I used a couple of times. Take up a lot less room then a hydraulic press. Got to be careful on rubber bushings else you get them stuck in the sleeve.

Everything is said. What to add more ?
Thanks a lot guys.
I just remembered that my volvo dealer is an 850 aficionado. I'll go see him when the time is right, with one of the bottles I keep in reserve for such an occasion...

Your best friend is one around the corner with a press.
Running one or two cars, it probably isn’t worth it
Running six Volvos, one bmw and two vws, latest model 2006, mine gets used about 6x a year
I’m down to about $6 per use.
Then there is this…teaching the young kids in the neighborhood physics of things…earning 10 minutes of life lost

A friend around the corner is the right thing. My buddy does it for beers. I bring him the cheapest stuff I can find. Since he normally drinks Bud, he obviously doesn't care ( American beer-drinking joke.)
As Neil mentioned, if you feel the need to invest in tools, a good floor jack is used more often than a press - Abscate frightening the neighborhood children with Science experiments notwithstanding.
