WIndshield Phone Mount

Post by GDATL »

I have both a 2011 and a 2016 S80 and have purchased a Spigen One Tap Pro Phone Mount. I had planned to mount it on the left side near the A-pillar, but was reminded when I looked that there is an A-pillar air bag and I don't want my phone and mount to become missles aimed at either the driver or passenger. I searched and could not find any videos or descriptions or how that air bag deploys. How far away from the a-pillar do I need to stay? Should I just abandon the left side and mount the phone mount in the lower center of the windshield? I really don't want an air-vent mounted phone holder or a dash mount. Thanks all!

Depending on the car what's under the A Pillar is a guide rather than an air curtain.

Thanks. Based on those videos, it looks like the windshield itself remains clear if I want to install the mount on the left side.

Safe to say assuming they are all the same. This one is clearer.

One caveat, not sure how much force to deploy the curtains. If the windshield is cracked and the mount loses suction, will the momentum fling the mount to wherever the force of the impact was directed?
