what kind of hoses connected to purge valve

Post by kejeon »

My 2002 S60 still got a P0455 code after I replaced the gas cap, and I figured that the hoses connected to canister purge valve need to be replaced. looks like rubber, but not sure if the hoses have special requirement.
I went to lowe's and they got fuel hose and heater hose, which one should I go with? or they are the same thing.
Appreciate any reply

The best application is silicone vacuum hoses, they hold up better in high/low temperature. http://www.stylinmotors.com/index.html is the place many of us get those from but I dont think they have kit for S60. Do a search on https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss? ... se&x=0&y=0 find out what sizes you need.

They have to be resistant to petroleum. Overall pressure is low. The problem with some of those hoses is that they have uniques shaped bends and ends. It may be best to just buy new ones.

If its a straight hose and you can get fuel hose the same size then go for it. It wil work great. Fuel resistant vacuum line work great as well.

Silicone is great as well but may be outside the budget.

the hoses are almost straight line, and I'm looking for something cheap.
what I concern is the high temperature in the engine bay.
I think I'll go with the fuel hose. Thank you!

I found everything I needed for under $10 at Autozone. Bring in your hoses and get close enough. You want fuel/oil resistant and vacuum hose. This was for a XC90, but I don't recall anything too different.

Sure silicon is better, but normal hose works and lasts 10 plus years. It is cheap and easy to buy.
