If anuone knows what the higher amp part numbers are, this is the two alts i have. I think they are the same units, check out the price difference from the same Australian sellers website.

0 124 525 029 Bosch 140amp (P2 190.8mm wide 56mm pulley)
0 124 525 529 Bosch 75-140amp (P2 190.8mm wide 56mm pulley) $756 Aud

0 124 525 521 Bosch 140amp (P2 191mm wide 55mm pulley) smaller pulley will run faster

0 124 625 024 Bosch 160amp (P2 R series 196mm wide 56mm pulley) $559 Aud

More of a demand for 140A because many people think the amperage and part numbers must be a match.
Lack of knowledge on how to select a substitute part.

Volvos are fucking weird! I just got an 01 XC70 with a bad alternator. Swapped out my alternator from my old '02 XC70 and now the 01 works beautifully. Good Fortune to you.

SImple solution to find out what you need, assuming no modifications that require more current:

Call the dealership, given them your VIN, tell them you think you need a new alternator and ask them what part # and amperage are.

I did this, then promptly went to NAPA and bought a Bosch for a fraction of the dealership price and it came with a lifetime warranty.
