Oil pressure problem
2004 V70-XC, 122k. Last month after driving for 15 min. the oil light came on. Got it towed home and I changed the pressure sensor. Did the same thing again. Temp was fine. I took the oil pan off and replaced the sump seal and the two oil pan O-rings, sealant on the pan and installed. Did it again! I do a drive to nearby town and the oil light flickers as I'm parking. Can an oil pump fail at 122k??? I need some advice please. Thank you.

Oil pump in the Volvo 5-cyl engine lasts > 300K, basically the life of the car.
Maybe the oil is too thin.
What oil brand and grade are you using now?

My 01 V70 2.4t oil pressure problem was the oil pickup seal moved out of the engine block causing the oil light to come on during startup. All my other seals in the oil pan looked OK. My oil light never came on while driving, only startup. Just checking if you pulled the pickup tube out.

Yes, I also thought that oil pump would last forever! O'Reilly 10w40. Wish I had an old can of STP!

On my 01 V70 t2.4, I knew I had a delayed oil light for some time, and as time went on it seemed to be getting worse. I sent an oil analysis out to Blackstone labs and they said my 7ppm lead level of lead was showing signs of bearing wear.
That's when I dropped the pan and repaired the oil pickup o-rings. My last analysis showed 1ppm lead level, so I was able to halt the damage being before the repair.
I realize that you probably don't have many miles on your last oil change, but if you give Blackstone a sample with all the information you know, they might be able to tell you that the engine is worth fixing. If the lead level is very low, maybe its your oil pump. If the lead level is too high, maybe you would have to think harder whether to go any further on the engine.
A fellow worker 10 years ago, said his Jeep was getting noisy and was going to repair it. After I found out he was adding coolant (and it wasn't leaking coolant) I convinced him to get an oil analysis. Blackstone Labs returned a report showing just about everything shredding apart in the engine and told him to move on to a replacement engine.
I don't think your engine is as bad as my friends Jeep, but maybe you want to see the lead levels before moving forward. Just a suggestion.

By-pass valve freezes sometimes in a partially opened position. That happens when the oil pump picks up a dirt from sump, the oil pressure is too high and the valves opens briefly to release it. The dirt does not have enough time to travel all through the valve and gets trapped between the valve's cap and the bore.
Here's the scratch(es) I found on the valve cap in my oil pump w/ 220k miles:
