Help....! I am completely foxed
Starting Problem
760GLE 2.8 V6 automatic
100,000 miles very well maintained excellent condition, garaged and runs perfectly (smooth and returns good miles/gallon)
Today it just wont start.. Doesn't turn over at all, noit even a 'click'!
When I turn the key and switch the ignition on, all dashborad warning lights and indicators come on as normal. But when I turn the key... nothing hapens at all.
It has done this on one occaision (5 months ago) but a little while later it just fired up on-the-button as normal as if nothing was ever wrong.
My ignition system, leads, contatcs etc are all in good clean condition.
Is this maybe to do with the shift-switch (that prevents starting unless in Park or neutral)....?
Has anyone any experience of the same thing...? if so please reply and help me out, I am a bit lost with this one.
Thank you
Phil

Yeah could be what is described as the PNP switch- the contacts become corroded. When you start the car ( crank the engine) there won't be a response from the starter.
Also make sure all the ground connections from the battery are clean and connected.sometimes also, the starter solenoid gets corroded and it has to be replaced.. Does the fuel relay engage when the key is turned on as well?
So, the PNP switch
Ground connections
starter solenoid
sometimes too the Radio Suppression Relay and the ignition power stage can effect starting issues
hope this helps
