Well, after looking at other cars and seeing the stupid prices on used cars I began looking at an engine swap. I’ve located a 110k engine out of an 07 S60 for $1,000. Of course, the timing system will be replaced on this motor and PCV hole inspected and cleaned before installation.
I have a mechanic looking at it and will have a quote to do the swap on Monday. Any ideas of what I should expect for time and cost to do the work?

I can’t give you any time or cost info, but I would suggest that you have the rear main seal replaced on the donor engine as well. It’s a cheap seal that would cost a lot to replace after it’s all together.

Buy Volvo RMS, not aftermarket, plus new flywheel bolts.
I did engine+transmission swap in a ~week, working a few hours at evenings, combining it with kids diapers, etc. With the lift the whole subframe can be lowered and you'll have better access to everything, which speeds things up quite a bit. If you go this way - replace the subframe bushings as well.
