Okay so I pulled the PIN and turned the motor over by hand about 4 or 5 times and everything is good.
I called it quits for last night and going to do the reassembly after some healthy McDonald's breakfast!
The timing belt is on the right way all the timing marks match up and I rotated the motor four or five times and the timing marks marks still match up which is a good thing!

Hey fellas do I need to set the 'temp guage setting' on the tensioner or the hydraulic part?
I didnt see anything but I read about it.
Something about cool setting , operating temp setting and hot setting? And an adjustment window?
Do I have that on these parts? Don't remember seeing any thing adjustable.
I am putting in the -hydraulic tensioner failure protection- plastic item.
Going to install this ..with the concave part facing up as in the first pic.
So....... Do I have to worry about any temp setting adjustment on these parts?

Another satisfied MVS patient. Pretty cool that someone can write in just as they're starting a repair, and get this kind of support.
It's really an incredible service that you all provide, and I know from experience, much appreciated.

My notes on mechanical tensioner adjustment. It worked very smoothly for me.
The tensioner requires calibration. It is ambient temperature sensitive.

My old tensioner seems way out of spec, pointing to 5 F when it's 80 F outside.
FCP video 11:20 min and 15min describe it. Some models must move from 11 to 2, others from 11 to 7.
Adjusting the tensioner counterclockwise moves the temp indicator clockwise.
When mounting the belt, move the tension arm all the way right for maximum free play, per FCP.
You use the allen key to pull the tensioner counterclockwise, moving the needle all the way to the right. Then gently release the tensioner until the indicator moves left to the middle (or elsewhere accounting for extreme ambient temperature). Hold it there and tighten the center bolt to the specified torque.

The temperature setting on the (mid 1998) - on mechanical is not critical , per Guru Jimmy
Unless it’s deep winter , just set it up and down when you set it up. You do have to go past and then come back , though.

hey everyone, this is a little late, but….
thanks for the timing belt support !

So defe have put some miles on the wagon, and have been buzzing around.
thanks to Paul and to Shane of the Red Wagon Squadron for the live phone support.
