How to stop a sqeaky clutch pedal

In this 240 I recently purchased, the clutch pedal is squeaky. Is there a cure for it? I sprayed the spring and all hinges liberally with silicone spray to no avail.

My Isuzu pickup starts making the same noise and the spray lube has always cured it.

Is there something external to the firewall that I need to also spray?

followup:

Squeaky clutch pedal stopped after sitting overnight. Apparently the silicone had to work its way to the interior of the bushing that the spring is wrapped around.
